Active Wellbeing & Activity on Prescription
Activity on Prescription (AOP) is a scheme that allows professionals to refer people who are in need of support to get involved in physical activity, lose weight or improve their mental health.
We work with GP Surgeries, NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Health and Active Rehabilitation Programme (HARP) and health professionals to deliver a range of activities to help people living with long term conditions be active and manage their health. We have classes that suit all abilities and can help you make a positive change in your life.
Referral
When we receive your referral, we will contact you to arrange a consultation. Once we have completed the questionnaires or carried out the assessments we need to, we will discuss what activity is best suited to you and get you started at a suitable programme, class or session.
To be eligible for the programme you must:
- Be living with a long term medical condition
- Not meet the UK Chief Medical Officer guidelines for activity. ( guidelines show that you should aim to be active for 150 minutes or more every week)
We offer a range of exercise options as part of the Activity on Prescription referral programme. Contact the team for more information - CHAT@Ayrshire360.com
Invigor8
Invigor8 is our Falls Prevention programme, delivered by staff trained by Later Life Training. These classes follow a proven programme designed to help reduce falls in older adults.
If you’ve had a few falls, feel unsteady, or have conditions like Osteoporosis, you can be referred by a health professional or simply come along yourself.
In each session, we focus on strength and balance, and also teach a safe way to get up from the floor if you ever do fall. Most people tell us they feel more confident after taking part, and we regularly see great improvements in balance and strength.
