Community Based Adult Learning & Employability
Community based adult learning offers learning opportunities for unemployed people to allow them to take the first steps back into employment or education.
Employability courses are provided in partnership with Ayrshire College and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and other third party organisations. Training and support in digital literacies is also offered to enable adults to make effective use of digital technologies in their work, family, community and personal lives.

We provide support to people to improve their digital skills, using a computer is a skill required for 21st century living and digital skills are necessary for everyone to be able to be an inclusive member of society.
The team provides training and support in digital literacies to enable adults to make effective use of digital technologies in their work, family, community and personal lives. We support Digital and Employability Hubs for adults with a particular focus on digital skills for life and employment – promoting access to digital learning in communities.

Courses and classes are available for complete beginners through to advanced learners and take place in community venues throughout East Ayrshire. Learners are supported by experienced Gaelic tutors to develop their understanding of the language and improve their conversational skills. ME2U Programme
ME2U works in partnership with the Communities team alongside:
• East Ayrshire schools
• Job Centre Plus
• Ayrshire College
The project provides an eight week programme for unemployed individuals who wish to improve their work readiness.
The project comprises of two days per week volunteering within an educational establishment and two days per week within a community centre working towards four SCQF Level 4 and 5 modules delivered by Ayrshire College.
The volunteering element of ME2U allows participants to be matched into a role which relates to the area of work that they would like to pursue. Support and mentoring is provided throughout by a member of staff within the school setting.
Roles include:
• Classroom assistants
• Janitorial
• Cleaning
• Catering
• Outdoor amenities
We will assist participants to undergo a PVG; equality and diversity and protect people training as well as a 'first steps' session.
Job Centre Plus also provides participants with a uniform and travel warrants.
ME2U is about empowering people to change their lives and to work with them to help break down the barriers which are preventing them from gaining employment.
