Songs, Rhymes & Stories for Little Ones
Bookbug sessions are free, friendly 30-minute sessions filled with stories, songs and rhymes for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their parents or carers. Singing and rhyming together helps build your child’s language skills and lays strong foundations for future learning. It’s also a brilliant way to have fun as a family and meet other local parents and carers.
Booking Information
Booking is essential, as sessions cannot accept drop‑ins.
- Places are booked per adult, and we ask that no more than one adult attends per child.
- One adult can bring up to three children.
- If you can’t make your booked session, please let us know so we can offer the space to another family.
- We do not operate waiting lists. Places are allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis, either in person or by calling the library.
Free Bookbug Bags
Children in East Ayrshire can receive four fantastic free Bookbug Bags at key stages:
- Baby Bag: from the registrar when registering a birth
- Toddler Bag: from your health visitor (13–15 months)
- Explorer Bag: from nursery at age 3
- Primary 1 Family Bag: from school in P1
Gaelic Bookbug Bags are available and tactile books are offered for children with additional support needs.
Bookbug’s Songs & Rhymes App
The Bookbug app makes it even easier to enjoy songs and rhymes throughout the day. It’s packed with resources to help you play, sing and bond with your child.
