Caricature in Context
Join us at the Dick Institute’s Event Space on the 16th of April for Caricature in Context, a FREE talk from professional cartoonist and caricaturist Terry Anderson!
Terry will explain all things caricature, from the origins of the artform to the pressures faced by cartoonists today. As part of Ayrshire360’s Malky McCormick Project, Terry will also explore McCormick’s approach to caricature and how Malky was truly a one-of-a-kind presence in the Scottish Press.
The talk will run from 6-7pm, with a 40-minute lecture followed by a 20-minute Q&A. All are welcome! This event is great for new and seasoned artists alike, as well as those with an interest in McCormick’s work and legacy. Spaces are limited so come early to secure your spot!
Inspired by Malky’s work as a teenager, Terry joined us on The Malky McCormick project to deliver art classes over the last year, helping Malky’s art inspire a new generation. Terry is a member of the Scottish Cartoon Art Studio in Glasgow, as well as serving as the Executive Director of Cartoonists Rights Network International. This talk is an opportunity to meet and learn from an influential voice in modern caricature, both in Scotland and internationally.
