Sports Council
Established in 1996 and funded by East Ayrshire Council, the East Ayrshire Sports Council supports the development of sport across the area. We work closely with local voluntary sports clubs, organisations and partners to promote best practice, strengthen connections, and encourage participation at every level.
The East Ayrshire Sports Council aims to:
- Promote and develop interest and participation in sport
- Support and connect local clubs and organisations
- Promote and deliver competitions, championships and social events
- Assist clubs, organisations and individuals to access training and development opportunities
- Support the formation of new sports clubs and organisations
- Share information on local clubs, activities, and sports facilities
- Champion inclusive sport by promoting equality of opportunity for people with additional support needs
Affiliation, Benefits & How to Join
Sports clubs and organisations can affiliate to the Sports Council for a 12‑month period:
- £40 – eligible for grant aid funding
- £25 – ineligible for grant aid funding
Only voluntarily run, sport‑specific clubs involved in active participation and competition are eligible for grant funding and 30% facility discounts.
However, all sports‑minded organisations are welcome to affiliate and benefit from updates, training opportunities and stronger links within the sporting community.
Affiliated clubs can access a wide range of support, including:
- Grant funding
- Guidance on external funding opportunities
- Training for club volunteers
- Coach education and development
- Support with policies and procedures
- Child protection and safeguarding guidance
- Representation at national forums
- Regular newsletters and updates
- Eligibility to nominate members for Sports Council Awards
- Promotion through our local sports directory
