Galston Town Hall

Galston Town Hall will officially open Wednesday 8 April 2026, offering a new home for the public library alongside a dedicated Skills and Learning Hub.

What’s Inside

  • Galston Library has moved from Henrietta Street and now occupies much of the ground floor.
  • A new Skills and Learning Hub provides a one‑stop‑shop for employability and learning support, including:
    • Help for young people approaching school‑leaving dates
    • Specialist support for care‑experienced residents
    • Disability-focused sector skills programmes
    • Parental employability initiatives

A Historic, Modernised Space

Located in the heart of the Galston Conservation Area, the 1925 building has been restored to reflect its traditional baronial style, featuring red sandstone, a turret, balcony and decorative carvings. The first‑floor main chamber—with its wood panelling, fireplace and decorative ceiling—has been preserved and offers flexible space for meetings, events and exhibitions.

Accessible for All

Accessibility has been central to the redesign. The building now features:

  • A lift connecting all levels
  • New ramps and stairs linking to the Church Lane car park
  • Open, welcoming, adaptable interior spaces

Celebrating Local Heritage

Throughout the building, visitors will find references to Galston’s history, including Lady Flora Hastings, poet Janet Little, and Alison Begbie (“Peggy Alison”). A miniature Stirling Engine pays tribute to Rev. Robert Stirling.
